Maori Mihi

We have been learning Maori greetings and different commands. The children can now introduce themselves and say what their name is, where they are from and the name of their school.
They have also been exploring different parts of our land/ community and how to pronounce the names, these have both been displayed in our class and are now in the Learning Journals.
Here are some pictures of the classes Mihi and photo.

New Gears resourses

We have new awesome 'Gears' resource's in the classroom,  the children had the opportunity and chance to use and take turns with the new equipment. It has lots of different activities to do and ways to make the gears move and change patterns. It was great to see the children interacting and using the new equipment together, using team work to make the gears move and work. Here are some pictures of some of the children in Room 8, next week we will have new Mobilo for the class too.

Powhiri Welcome

We had a special assembly for our visitors from The Education Review Office and the Kapa Haka group performed a Powhiri welcome for them. We were all very impressed with the strong vocals and calling from the Kapa Haka leaders, Toby Lewis did a great Mihi about his family. The visitor's were also very impressive with their Mihi and Waiata. Here are some photo's of the Senior Kapa Haka group and Whaea Leanne.
