New Gears resourses

We have new awesome 'Gears' resource's in the classroom,  the children had the opportunity and chance to use and take turns with the new equipment. It has lots of different activities to do and ways to make the gears move and change patterns. It was great to see the children interacting and using the new equipment together, using team work to make the gears move and work. Here are some pictures of some of the children in Room 8, next week we will have new Mobilo for the class too.

Powhiri Welcome

We had a special assembly for our visitors from The Education Review Office and the Kapa Haka group performed a Powhiri welcome for them. We were all very impressed with the strong vocals and calling from the Kapa Haka leaders, Toby Lewis did a great Mihi about his family. The visitor's were also very impressive with their Mihi and Waiata. Here are some photo's of the Senior Kapa Haka group and Whaea Leanne.

Measurement- Maths Strand

We are learning about Measurement and what tools we can use to measure different types of equipment and how to use them. Room 8 children had 10 cubes to join together and we used them to measure different classroom resources. Then they used the cubes to measure equipment that they use in every day life...

Here are some pictures of them using their cubes to measure items and how they were self assessing their findings.

Rhythm Interactive

All the children at Dairy Flat School had the opportunity to take part in the 'Rhythm Interactive' musical experience. We had the chance to do this once before and the children really enjoyed it, so to get to take part again was a great thrill. The children were all involved and having a go at doing the rhythm and matching the beats by the excellent musician and singer 'John'. Every child had a drum and it was really special to see and hear how well the children could repeat the beat and keep up with John. Even the teachers had a drum each and were giving it a go...
